Keippa + Jake's Country Drake Wedding
I first met Keippa and Jake at a wedding expo, and despite meeting hundreds of people that day I clearly remember my conversation with Keippa about traveling to some place called Drake, having no idea where it was and eargerly agreeing to travel there (I'm always up for an adventure) Fast forward several months later to May 2017, and Phoebe and I are on an eventful road trip to Drake,N.S.W for an amazing adventure wedding weekend! I have never seen a bride and groom put so much thoughtful detail into a wedding. This wedding required months and months of work getting a vacant property wedding-ready! No running water, getting the shed cleared, marquee set up, bringing in toilets, hay bails , each chair, table setting & glass collected and painted, trees cleared, a bridge built! It was epic..and so worth it! The whole wedding party, 100 people strong, came together to pitch in and get jobs done to create a rather spectacular ceremony and reception. With any great plan, things go wrong- it flooded the day before the wedding- no problem said coordinator Melissa- we'll put hay down, and build a stage for the Frankly Booth! The bride can no longer arrive via helicopter...no problem! We'll spray paint this old ute gold and still make a grand entrance! After firing his shot gun, Keippa's Dad showed his softer side, singing his little girl down the isle while I blubbered away like a baby and tried to keep my camera still! Family and friends chipped in to make it happen. They camped on the property that Keippa (Bride) spent her childhood visiting for camping trips, while the Bridal party got ready at the Drake Hotel. The big advantage of a reception like this is no curfew, no noise complains, which meant they could party long into the night, dancing away to the band, Occa Rock(so awesome!)with family members also busting out a tune (and I mean busting, like woah, this family has pipes!) and enjoying a delicious country roast by In Good Taste Catering.
Keippa & Jake- it was all so worth it! What wonderful memories you will have. Thank you for the country hospitality- we'll come back any time!
